Device: iOS Universal
Category: Productivity
Price: $7.99, Version: 1.2.16 -> 1.2.17 (iTunes)

Description:

PocketBib is a BibTeX library reader for academics on the go. With PocketBib you can search, browse and read the papers in your BibTeX library, and synchronise them over Dropbox with BibDesk or JabRef on your computer. You can edit existing entries, and you can even annotate your papers in another app, then re-import them to PocketBib and your annotated paper will be uploaded to Dropbox!PocketBib features: ● Entry editing. You can edit the BibTeX fields of existing entries and automatically upload the new BibTeX library.● Parsing BibTeX libraries, including understanding TeX character accents. “Schrödinger” is displayed correctly, not as “Schr{\"o}dinger”. TeX math-mode isn't supported, so $^{85}$Rb will be rendered as just that. If you see something you think isn’t displayed correctly, please let me know. ● Sync your libraries using Dropbox, or add them to your device directly through iTunes. ● Support for JabRef and BibDesk groups with the exception of JabRef 'search' groups.● Search for entries by title, author, abstract, etc. ● Browse your papers by keywords.● Tap to download and view linked PDF files. The PDF files must be linked in BibDesk / JabRef. ● Automatically sync all linked files. Just go to settings and select ‘All Linked Files’ in ‘Local Storage’. The default is to keep a 200Mb cache of the most recently used files. ● Although annotating files is not supported, and ‘unflattened’ annotations cannot be viewed, you can send a PDF to another application, make your annotations and then send it back to PocketBib. PocketBib will then offer to upload the new file to Dropbox, replacing the original. ● You can email BibTeX entries with the paper attached. ● Multiple group selection on the iPad: tap and hold on a group to engage multiple select mode and the articles list will display only the articles in all of the groups.● It's fast! PocketBib has been tested on libraries with thousands of papers. User reviews:-----------“Great mobile addition to BibDesk! This is the app I was waiting for! Combined with Bibdesk on Mac and Dropbox, it turns the iPad into the perfect reference library.”“Finally, an app for the Bibtex + Dropbox -> iPad academic workflow! I've been looking for an app for reading academic papers for months now ever since I bought my iPad, but amazingly nothing existed for browsing a directory of pdfs + a bibtex file until now.”“It is flawless! Works like a charm.”

What's New

Version 1.2.17--------------● Fix bugs introduced in 1.2.16: Section headers are now correct again when sorting by dates; Shared BibTeX macros no longer have leading and trailing whitespace trimmed.Older release notes:Version 1.2.16--------------● You can now set one BibTeX library to share its BibTeX macros (@string{} entries) to other libraries. This is useful if you have BibTeX files with abbreviated and full names for journals. To turn this on, open the BibTeX library of the document you'd like to share, tap the settings icon and turn "Share BibTeX Macros" on.● When you start editing an entry, PocketBib will check to see if the library has changed on the server, and will notify you if it has.● PocketBib will now notify you if uploading a modified BibTeX library results in a conflicted file being created on Dropbox.● PocketBib will now use localised table indexes for quickly finding articles. Previously, "A-Z" was shown in the list independent of the language used, but now, if your device is set to Japanese, the normal Japanese index list will appear, likewise for other languages. Note that your library will need to be re-imported for this to take effect.● Clean up temporary files created when downloading PDFs.Version 1.2.15--------------● PocketBib now correctly handles entries with an empty cite key.● You can now change the default BibTeX field used when creating comments on articles. Go to the main settings and tap "BibTeX comment field".● Fix a bug that could cause section headers to appear over the entry search results
