What's New

New! We've added 3D models for the International Space Station, Hubble Space Telescope, and 13 other satellites. Now you can ride along with the ISS and view the most-detailed ISS model available in any app!New! The Calendar button now shows what's visible tonight or for any other night to help you easily find things whether you're out under the stars right now or planning a camping trip for the Summer! Choose from common lists for things like planets, satellites and deep space, or see custom displays of your own Observation Lists.New! NASA's MESSENGER mission recently finished mapping all of Mercury and published a complete map of the entire surface and Luminos has it! It's a beautiful, high-definition map and of course Luminos labels every crater and plain with the latest official names from the IAU.New! Satellites have more detail and show their current velocity, apparent magnitude, and lists of their upcoming flyovers for your location.New! We've made the constellation list prettier by adding an icon for each constellation depicting that constellation's figure in miniature!New! We've re-styled planet orbits to show the direction they are traveling to give you a better sense of the mechanics of the Solar System.New! The country databases have been updated to the latest GeoNames data and now include the country of South Sudan (welcome South Sudan!).New! To make magnitude numbers easier to understand, we added descriptive text next to them which describe the magnitude in terms like "bright", "very bright" and "faint".New! We've updated the surface feature data for all planets and moons with the latest information published by the IAU.New! Searching for satellites is easier with support for searching using full names in addition to the designation.New! We wanted to make it easier to find the International Space Station and other bright satellites when they fly over your house and so have enabled those categories by default in Satellites.New! Although Asteroid and Comet data only updates once a month, it's a big download and so now we offer the option to disable Automatic Updates. While disabled, you can still manually update any time you'd like by using the Update button in the Asteroids & Comets list.New! In the previous release we added a user-requested feature to make asteroids and satellites more distinct from stars. We did it, but maybe over-did it, so in this version we've made the asteroids less distracting.New! To help telescope users with choosing an eyepiece, we've added minimum and maximum recommended magnifications based on your telescope's aperture.New! Computer-controllable Orion telescopes are now fully supported.New! Motion tracking has been updated and is now more responsive than ever.New! The orbital elements for the Dwarf Planets Eris, Haumea, Makemake and Ceres have been updated for the most accurate positioning.Fixed! NexStar protocol now cancels slewing reliably on alt-az mountsFixed! Night vision mode works correctly on telescope centering controlsFixed! The Search bar is shown in the satellites browser once againFixed! The display no longer sometimes becomes unresponsive after suspending and resuming the appFixed!
